Barefoot Running in the Globe
|
| The globe picked up the barefoot trend with an article last week. I’ve also included links to a Runner’s World debate and a blog by local podiatrist and runner Dr. Chasen. A fad revisited or the key to healthy happy feet?, you decide! |

This week we swing back to running at 5k race pace (interval pace), which will be ~15-20s faster per mile than threshold pace (or ~2s faster per 200m lap).
5-6 x 1000m @ 5K race pace I strongly suggest that anyone whose 5K race pace is > 7:00 per mile alter the basic workout and run 5-6 x 800m instead. 6:30 pm Warmup |

This week we’re back in the threshold zone with longer intervals and short rest.

This week involves slightly less volume at a faster pace. The last two workouts have been done at threshold pace; this week’s workout is designed to be run roughly at 5k race pace (interval pace), which will be ~15-20s faster per mile than threshold pace (or ~2s faster per 200m lap).
4-5 x 1000m @ 5K race pace I strongly suggest that anyone whose 5K race pace is > 7:00 per mile alter the basic workout and run 5 x 800m instead. 6:30 pm Warmup |

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but banks are so delightful. Enjoy another frostbite free workout around the indoor track.
