CSU is organizing a traverse across the Presidential Mountain Range in the White Mountains. It will be a long day hike on Saturday, June 29th. The hike is about 20 miles and will take approximately 14 hours. Great bonding time with your fellow CSU runners, orienteers and skiers!
The plan is to meet at the trailhead at 5:15am and start hiking by 5:30am. The trail starts at the Appalachia parking area on Route 2 in New Hampshire. We will start up the Valley Way trail and take Watsons Path to the summit of Mt. Madison. From there we will take Gulfside Trail, including the spurs that go over the peaks of each Mt. Adams, Jefferson, Clay, and Washington. From the summit of Mt. Washington we continue on the Crawford Path over Mt. Monroe, Eisenhower, and Pierce. The hike will end on Route 302 in Crawford Notch. We will leave cars at the end of the trail, or arrange for pick-up, and return to collect the cars left at the start.
Please come prepared with food and snacks for a long day, as well as warm clothes, rain and wind gear, comfortable hiking shoes, and blister protection. Also bring a headlamp and a map of the Presidential Range. The hike is exposed above tree line for most of the day so we need to be prepared for everything.
